Underware for openGrid

Custom 3D-printable models for the Underware for openGrid desk mounting ecosystem — "underware"-style holders and mounts for gear that lives under desks, on shelves, and on grid walls.

All models are parametric OpenSCAD sources with print-ready STLs, shared freely with the 3D printing community via Printables and MakerWorld.

Models

Folder Model Description
behringer umc202hd/ UMC202HD under-desk holder Clamshell-style holder that carries a Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD USB audio interface under a desk or on an openGrid wall, attaching through openConnect slots.

Each model folder contains the parametric OpenSCAD source (.scad). Rendered STLs are kept out of git; grab them from the release listings or render your own (see below).

Customizing / building

  1. Install OpenSCAD (the current snapshot build is recommended) and the BOSL2 library.
  2. In OpenSCAD, enable the Manifold 3D rendering backend (Edit → Preferences → Advanced) for much faster renders.
  3. Open a model's .scad file, tweak the customizer parameters (item dimensions, slot placement, cutouts, …), render, and export an STL.

The STLs are build artifacts and not kept in git — render them yourself with:

make stl # renders every model to dist/*.stl (requires OpenSCAD + BOSL2)
make clean # removes dist/

Releasing

Releases are automated with Forgejo Actions (.forgejo/workflows/build-stl.yaml), which renders every model with the OpenSCAD toolchain image and attaches the STLs:

  • push to main (or manual dispatch) → STLs stored as downloadable workflow artifacts
  • push a v* tag → STLs attached to a Forgejo release

The build image (underware-build:trixie) is itself CI-managed: .forgejo/workflows/build-image.yaml builds the Containerfile with kaniko whenever it changes and publishes it to this instance's container registry as <forgejo-host>/<owner>/underware-build:trixie.

One-time setup for both workflows: create a token with write:package scope (Settings → Applications) and store it as the repository Actions secret PACKAGES_TOKEN (the automatic workflow token cannot read or write packages). Then run Build CI image once (manual dispatch) before cutting your first release:

git tag v26.10 && git push origin v26.10   # publish a release
